Gain is designed to offer Carers aged 19+ the chance to achieve an NVQ
Level 2 in Health & Social Care. This is ideally suited to
Carers already in the profession who have experience and wish to gain a
qualification to compliment this.

CTS offer the GOAL Level 2, 3 & 4 NVQ in Health & Social Care, which has been developed from the ‘National Occupational Standards’ and various standard-setting bodies. Our NVQs provide contemporary qualifications that are current and in line with industry needs.
These NVQs are designed for people who deliver physical, emotional or enabling care to clients. This applies to environments where care is delivered including residential homes and caring homes.

Level 2
consists of 6 units for the total NVQ, 4 mandatory and 2 optional units. Candidates must take all 4 mandatory units and choose 2 optional units, which are selected in conjunction with the current and future job role. Additional units may also be taken to complement the 6 units already taken. Suited to those with no previous qualifications.
Level 2 Care includes:
Level 3
consists of 8 units for the total NVQ, 4 mandatory and 4 optional units. Candidates must take all 4 mandatory units and choose 4 optional units, which are selected in conjunction with the current and future job role. Suited to those with NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and appropriate care responsibility.
Level 3 Care includes:
Prevention of abuse
Health & Safety
Develop one’s own knowledge and practice
Care planning
Continence management
Development of supervisory role
Assessment of client
Level 4
(Health & Social Care & Registered Manager’s Award)
consists of 8 units for the total NVQ, 4 mandatory and 4 optional. Candidates must take all 4 mandatory units and choose 4 optional units, which are selected in conjunction with the current and future job role.
Suited to those planning or already in a supervisory/management care role. The new Registered Manager’s Award is a mandatory requirement for all registered managers from April 2005. Candidates will be managing a residential/nursing home.
A1 + A2 Assessor Awards
duration up to 12 months. Level 3 awards in assessing candidates’ using a range of methods and assessing candidates’ performance through observation, in their vocational area. Suitable for those who are teaching/training and are responsible for assessing vocational competence. This course if offered on a roll on roll of basis and likely candidates may be people in the workplace responsible for training others. To complete the practical assignments you must have candidates to assess.
V1 + V2 Verifier Awards
duration up to 12 months. Level 4 awards in conducting internal quality assurance of the assessment process. This is suited to those already holding an NVQ Assessor qualification and are working in an environment where they are able to undertake workplace portfolio verification.
