Why choose NVQs?

National Vocational Qualifications are competency based and allow you to assess the skills of your workforce, ensuring they meet the needs of your organisation and clients. There are no examinations; candidates are assessed based upon ability.  Staff with nationally recognised qualifications will enhance the competitiveness of your organisation.

What will be involved during NVQ training?

Care Training Services is an accredited Training Centre; we take care of your employees' registrations, assessment books and study days as required. Depending on the size of your organisation, you will need at least one 'work-based' assessor to work with your NVQ candidates. A new assessor would work towards their qualification by working alongside their NVQ candidates, thereby causing no disruption to work patterns. Should you not have a work-based assessor we can bring the training and assessment to you.

Which NVQ should I choose?

We offer National Vocational Qualification Level 2, 3 & 4 in Health & Social Care, respectively. We also offer the Level 4 Care Management Award, which became a mandatory requirement for all registered managers from April 2005.  You can determine the most suitable level of NVQ, depending on the learner’s job role and we would be more than happy to advise you further. We also offer an NVQ in Customer Service, which complements the Care NVQ; this is also available for your ancillary staff.

What is the difference between NVQ learning and Modern Apprenticeships?

Primarily NVQs are available to all workers within a care environment.  Modern Apprenticeships are only available to those who are under 25 and meet our requirements.  Foundation Modern Apprenticeships (FMA) consists of 3 components that make up the whole award, the NVQ, Key Skills and Technical Certificate.  Advanced Modern Apprenticeships (AMA) consist of 3 components that make up the whole award, the NVQ, Key Skills and Technical Certificate.
