Frequently asked questions
This page offers some of the more common questions & answers relating to care training and our services..
Why Choose NVQ’s?
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ’s) are competency based and allow you to assess the skills of your workforce, ensuring they meet the needs of your organisation and clients. There are no examinations; learners are assessed based upon ability. Staff with nationally recognised qualifications will enhance the competitiveness of your organisation.
What will be involved during training?
CTS Training is an accredited Training Centre. We take care of your employees’ registrations, assessment, verification and certification. Your Assessor will work alongside learners guiding and assessing them against the national standards to work towards gaining their qualification, with no disruption to work patterns.
Which NVQ should I choose?
We offer a wide variety of NVQ’s, which would be determined by the learners current job role; we offer NVQ’s Level 2, 3 and 4 in Health and Social Care, NVQ Level 4 Leadership & Management in Care Services, Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships and an NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning & Support Services which complements the roles of your housekeeping and kitchen staff.
What is the difference between NVQ’s and Apprenticeships?
Primarily NVQ’s are available to all workers within a care environment. Candidates that are under the age of 25 would usually undertake an Apprenticeship (Level 2 NVQ qualification) or an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3 NVQ qualification). As well as undertaking their NVQ, they complete additional qualifications to make up a ‘Framework’. A total Apprenticeship qualification would consist of an NVQ, Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number, and a Technical Certificate. The benefits of adding key skills to an award include developing effective skills in spoken and written communication, and improving numerical skills.
