NVQ level 2
This NVQ is for you if you work in face-to-face roles with children and young people (from 0-16 years) and their families. If you are a Level 2 learner, you will generally be working under supervision. to those at Level 2, but require further knowledge an

Appropriate for those whose job or intended job includes routine care tasks or if entering a care position for the first time with no previous experience of the industry. Typical job roles include care assistant, residential worker, home carer.

This qualification is aimed at new entrants in the cleaning industry or at experienced workers who do not yet have a qualification recognised within the industry. This qualification is particularly appropriate for people whose role includes one or more of the following: the cleaning of building interiors, carpets, food premises, or caretaking.

NVQ level 3
Includes a wider variety of tasks than Level 2, and learners are expected to have greater responsibility and work with a degree of autonomy. Job roles are similar to those at Level 2, but require further knowledge and the ability to complete more complex.

This NVQ is for you if you work unsupervised or supervise within a child care services for children and young people (from 0-16 years) and their families.

NVQ level 4
This NVQ is for you if you manage or co-ordinate the provision of child care services for children and young people (from 0-16 years) and their families.

Leadership and Management for Care Services is a Level 4 NVQ aimed at managers, deputies and assistants who hold managerial responsibilities within care services.

These roles are likely to include some responsibility for managing: activities; people and other resources; information; and quality.

This new qualification is replacing the previously-accredited Level 4 NVQs in Registered Managers (Adults), which expired on 1st August 2008.

Learners wishing to achieve the Level 4 NVQ should be working, or aiming to work in, a supervisory or management position. Typical job roles at this level include centre manager, home care team leader, key worker and care officer.
